The vast, mysterious, and awe-inspiring waters have captured my heart. My relocation to the captivating Atlantic Coast of Namibia ignited a love affair with the ocean that breathed life into this body of work. As a designer committed to sustainability, I set out to explore the harmonious relationship between fashion and the environment. Life At Sea is a manifestation of this vision, where natural fibers take center stage, demonstrating that fashion can harmonize with nature. We also delved into the realm of fabric waste, transforming it into new textiles, embodying the concept of sustainable transformation. Intriguingly, we introduced a faux leather look into the collection to challenge the conventional approach to materials. It's a testament to our belief that fashion can be ethical and sustainable without harming animals. This juxtaposition exemplifies the evolving narrative of conscious fashion. The marine world's influence runs deep within Life At Sea. We've incorporated fishing lines and ropes, entanglements generously provided by the Ocean Conservation of Namibia's valiant efforts to safeguard seals. This connection serves as a reminder that we are stewards of our oceans, and that every choice we make ripples through the environment. Life At Sea serves as a dual symbol: it's a tribute to the delicate existence of the ocean's inhabitants and a reflection of my own transformation as I found solace and inspiration on the coast. Together, we hope to bring awareness not only to the beauty of life at sea but also to the urgency of preserving it. More than a fashion collection; a statement of commitment to a world where art, sustainability, and the natural world coexist harmoniously. This collection marks a debut not only in fashion but also in the journey of my creative expression, a voyage guided by my deep love for the ocean.
